Eagle Scout Court of Honor Tips
Many troops solicit congratulatory letters from government and business leaders, including the President, members of Congress, and CEOs who are former Scouts. While I have no problem with those letters, I think you should be sure to include relevant religious leaders in the mix. And that means figuring out the most appropriate contacts for each honoree.
If your troop is like many, it?s chartered to a religious institution but draws members from a variety of faith traditions. My United Methodist-sponsored troop includes kids who are Catholic, Jewish, Hindu, Unitarian Universalist, and various flavors of Protestant. Two of our Jewish Scouts will soon have a joint Eagle court of honor, and I think a letter from their rabbi would mean a lot more than one from our church?s pastor.
